Why Am I Doing This?

Over time, this blog has become a home for my ideas, experiences, questions, campaigns, humour and unusual connections.

I write about identity, media, public policy, mental health, policing, education, government, social issues, creativity and what I call the Golden Frequency—the place where experiences, symbols and ideas sometimes appear to tune into the same station.

You may agree with some articles.

You may strongly disagree with others.

You may finish reading one and wonder what strange train of thought you just boarded—and whether it still stops at Flinders Street.

All of those reactions are welcome.

A blog does not grow merely because it exists. It grows when somebody reads something, thinks about it, discusses it and passes it along.

That is why this promotion rewards people who help introduce the blog to a wider audience.

To receive one valid entry into the $500 draw:

You are not required to praise me or pretend to agree with everything.

In fact, thoughtful disagreement is far more interesting than artificial applause.

1. Promotion

The promotion is called the Share the Blog and Win $500 Promotion.

2. Promotion Period

The promotion opens at 12:00 am AEST on 14 September 2026.

Entries close at 11:59 pm AEDT on 14 December 2026.

Entries received before the opening time or after the closing time will not be accepted.

The promoter’s records will be used to determine when an entry was received.

3. Eligibility

Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years or older at the time of entry.

The promoter’s immediate family members are not eligible to enter.

Employees, contractors or other people directly involved in administering or drawing the promotion are also ineligible.

Entrants must have access to a valid Australian mobile telephone number and be legally able to receive the prize.

4. No Purchase Required

No purchase, payment or entry fee is required.

The promoter will never ask an entrant to pay a release fee, processing charge, tax, deposit or verification payment to receive the prize.

The promoter will never request an entrant’s password, authentication code or complete banking login details.

5. Entry Requirements

To receive one eligible entry, an entrant must complete every required step during the promotion period:

- Text a screenshot and working public link to the post to 0475 794 937

- Include their first name and Australian state or territory in the SMS

Entries may be posted on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok or Pinterest, provided the post can be viewed and verified by the promoter.

The promotional post must remain publicly accessible until the winner has been verified.

6. Entry Limit

Only one entry per person is permitted.

Posting repeatedly, using multiple accounts or sending the same entry from different telephone numbers will not create additional entries.

If more than one submission is received from the same person, only the first valid submission will be included.

7. Acceptable Promotional Posts

The post must represent a genuine attempt to introduce or recommend the blog to other people.

Entrants may express agreement, disagreement or their own honest opinion about the blog.

Entries must not contain:

- False or misleading statements

- Hate speech, threats or harassment

- Defamatory or unlawful material

- Spam or automated engagement

- Impersonation

- Purchased or artificially generated engagement

- Content infringing another person’s rights

- A claim that a social-media platform, government agency or unrelated organisation endorses the promotion

The promoter may reject an entry that is incomplete, unverifiable, fraudulent, automated or inconsistent with these terms.

8. Prize

There is one prize valued at:

AUD $500

The verified winner may receive the prize by:

- PayID or mutually agreed electronic transfer; or

- Cash, where a safe and practical in-person arrangement can be agreed upon.

The prize is not transferable to another person at the winner’s request.

No additional costs, products or benefits are included.

9. Winner Selection

One winner will be selected randomly from all verified eligible entries.

The draw will take place on 15 December 2026 at approximately 12:00 pm AEDT in Melbourne, Victoria.

Each verified entrant will be assigned one entry in the draw. A random selection method will be used to select the provisional winner.

The result will not be based on the number of likes, comments, followers or views received by an entrant.

Creativity is welcome, but this is a random draw—not a popularity contest.

10. Winner Verification and Notification

The provisional winner will be contacted using the mobile number from which the entry was submitted.

The promoter will attempt to notify the provisional winner within three business days of the draw.

Before receiving the prize, the provisional winner may be asked to provide reasonable evidence confirming:

- Their identity

- Their age

- Their Australian residency

- Their ownership of the promotional post

- Their compliance with the entry requirements

The promoter will not ask for an online account password or authentication code.

The winner should verify that any communication has come from 0475 794 937 or the official "@_KyleXyMelb" account.

11. Announcement of the Winner

After verification, the winner’s first name and state or territory may be announced in an update to this blog post and through the promoter’s social-media accounts.

By entering, entrants consent to this limited announcement if selected as the winner.

No entrant’s mobile number, address or financial information will be published.

12. Unclaimed Prize

If the provisional winner:

- Cannot be contacted;

- Does not respond within 14 days;

- Declines the prize;

- Cannot establish eligibility; or

- Is found to have breached these terms,

their entry will be declared invalid.

A replacement winner may then be selected randomly from the remaining eligible entries.

The replacement winner will be subject to the same verification requirements.

13. Privacy

Information submitted for the promotion will be used to:

- Verify entries

- Administer the draw

- Contact and verify the winner

- Deliver the prize

- Investigate suspected duplicate or fraudulent entries

- Meet any applicable record-keeping obligations

Entry information will not be sold to third parties.

Entrants should not include unnecessary personal information in their SMS or screenshot.

Unless longer retention is reasonably required for a dispute or legal obligation, entry records containing personal information will be deleted or securely destroyed within 90 days after the prize has been awarded and any redraw period has ended.

Standard SMS and data charges imposed by an entrant’s service provider may apply.

14. Technical Problems

The promoter is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete or unable to be verified because of:

- Incorrect links

- Deleted or private posts

- Platform outages

- Mobile-network problems

- Device failure

- Incorrect telephone numbers

- Spam filtering

- Other technical circumstances outside the promoter’s reasonable control

A sent message is not automatically proof that a valid entry was received.

15. Social-Media Disclaimer

This promotion is independently operated by Kyle Xy Josef Taus.

It is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook, Instagram, Meta, X, TikTok, Pinterest, Google, Blogger or any other social-media or technology platform.

Entrants release those platforms from responsibility for the administration of the promotion, to the extent permitted by law.

16. Changes, Suspension or Cancellation

The promoter may reasonably modify, suspend or cancel the promotion if fraud, technical failure, unlawful interference or circumstances outside the promoter’s reasonable control prevent the promotion from being conducted fairly.

Any material change will be announced publicly on the blog.

The promoter will not change the promotion merely to avoid awarding the advertised prize.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded under Australian law.

17. Acceptance of Terms

Submitting an entry confirms that the entrant has read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions.
